Nobody goes back to chemical sunscreen on purpose.

It happens by attrition. You buy the good stuff, you use it on a Saturday, you catch yourself in the car mirror at the lights, and you think: not for work. Then not for anything with photos. Then it's just the beach tube, and eventually it's the tube you keep meaning to finish.

The irony is that you already know why mineral is worth using. That was never the problem. The problem is that a sunscreen you won't put on your face in daylight isn't protecting anything.

The cast

Two minutes of rubbing and it's still sitting there, grey and flat. Worse in photos, worse on video calls, and far worse on deeper skin tones, where "a slight sheen" means being visibly ashen.

The bit the label never explains

Zinc is white. What matters is how it's carried.

Zinc oxide is a white mineral, and it protects by sitting on the surface of your skin rather than soaking into it. That's the whole point of it, and it's also exactly why it can leave a cast. The National Eczema Society puts it plainly: traditional mineral sunscreens tend to leave a white sheen, which is off-putting particularly for people with darker skin tones, and newer formulations are less likely to do it.

The difference between chalky and clear isn't the zinc. It's how finely and evenly that zinc is dispersed through the formula, and what it's carried in. Game Face Sport is built to spread thin and even, so you get the full 25% zinc oxide doing its job without wearing it on your face.

Is it genuinely clear on deeper skin tones?

It's formulated as a clear zinc with no white cast, which is a different thing from the thick traditional zinc most people have been burned by. Every zinc sunscreen looks white in the tube, so the test is how it looks once it's spread evenly and given a minute to settle. If it isn't right for you, our 30 day return policy applies.

How should I apply it so it doesn't go patchy?

Rub it on, not in. Spread a thin, even layer rather than grinding it into the skin, then leave it a minute before makeup or clothes. About half a teaspoon covers a face and neck properly, which is more than most people use.

Does it work under makeup?

Yes. It sets to a matte, non-greasy finish, so give it a minute to settle before foundation. Because it's a physical layer rather than an absorbed one, avoid heavy rubbing when you apply anything over it.

Is it greasy or shiny?

No. A lot of clear mineral formulas blend by leaning on oils, which swaps a cast for shine. This one is lightweight and non-greasy, which is the thing customers mention most after the no sting.

Has any chemical filter been added to make it clear?

No. Zinc oxide 25% is the only active ingredient in it. The clarity comes from the formulation, not from adding chemical UV filters back in.

Can I use it on my face every day?

Yes, it's a 3-in-1 for face, lips and body and it's non-comedogenic, so it won't clog pores. Reapply every two hours when you're outdoors, and after swimming, sweating or towel drying.

What's the difference between Sport and Sensitive?
